Hey Braves. Just got back from a week in La. Went out to Balfa for the dances and heard some great music. Headed out to Church Point on Sat. for the annual Cajun Woodstock St. Jude's fundraiser because Belton Richard made a special guest appearance. Wow! What a voice and what a player. The band backing him up was out of sight too. I unfortunately can't recall their names but they play at Randol's every other week. I can only imageine what it must have been like to be in a club hearing Belton Richard back when. I wish he would come out of retirement and start playng again.
I used to play with Belton for about 2 years and when I would use his microphone to sing I thought the mic was so loud but it wasn't the mic it was his voice! The guy has tremendous power and is one of the most powerful Cajun singers of all time!
My two favorite singers were always Belton and Phillip Alleman who sang with Aldus Roger! Phillip sang with very much emotion and feeling and his tone was one of the best in my opinion.
Actually, our scrun board player is Belton's grandson and his name is also Belton Richard!ha
Belton has an absolutely beautiful voice. Like you said, Travis, it is so powerful. I find Ivy Dugas has a voice that has the same effect. Almost like a tremolo in his singing
