Re: Re: Non-cajun tunes on accordion

Check out KeKe Borque's CD. There's a Bob Seger, Kiss and a Tool cover, all done well.

And Quebec and Newfoundland stuff

Re: Non-cajun tunes on accordion

Paul McCartney covered "Brown Eyed Handsome Man"
with Cajun accordion accompaniment.

Many "Creole/Zydeco" bands cover R&B tunes ..

Keith Frank did "Do you Like Good Music" (Sweet Soul Music).

I'll probably think of more whilst I drive to work :-)

Re: Re: Non-cajun tunes on accordion

One of the first tunes I learned was "Silver Threads
and Golden Needles" - an old country classic - that
can be played fast for a 2 step or slow for a waltz..
its a natural.

Re: Re: Re: Non-cajun tunes on accordion

Didn't Wayne Toups or someone play accordion on Mark Chesnut's "Get a Life". I don't remember if I heard that here or on KBON

Re: Non-cajun tunes on accordion

Johhny Be Good in the second position plays good on accordion. Take Me Back To Tulsa is another one. Back In The Arkansas, folk song does good.

Re: Re: Non-cajun tunes on accordion

Or how about Jingle Bells!

Re: Re: Re: Non-cajun tunes on accordion

Someone once requested me to play Havanagila on the Cajun accordion at a wedding reception.

Check out Danny Colette's latest release -- Gimme Gimme Good Lovin' and Bob Marley's Stir It Up -- just to name a couple.

Re: Non-cajun tunes on accordion

Some of the O'Carrolan's Airs and Irish waltzes sound nice. Switching on just the high and low reeds make for a unique break.

Sea Cruise
Margueritaville
Promised Land (Geno does this all the time)
Whole Lotta Shakin goin' On (Jamie Bergeron version)
