La Tasse De Café and Iry Lejeune

For those who are interested and dont know about it, KVPI (Ville Platte) has a bi-weekly show show called "La Tasse De Café" which is a talk and call in show mostly, but not all, in French. They air it live and archive the shows. I use it for listening comprehension practice and for learning new words. It's pretty neat because they come up with all kinds of subjects and folks from the area call in to talk about it. If you go to link#3, the May 4th archived show's main topic was about Iry Lejeune, and several folks called in with memories they had of him. One funny one was of him going to the KVPI station to play in person. He took his boots off and sat on a table to play and he would wiggle his toes through the holes in his socks to the beat. Early Cajun digitizing(sorry).

Grooooaaaaannnn.

I'm taking French this summer, and have been using some off the shelf books to get a leg up before the class. Thinking about hiking Europe in a couple of years. Its already helping me to where I can figure out the pronunciation of some French lyrics without looking at Ann's cheat-sheet translation.
