Re: Re: Steve Rileys accordion in Racines promo pictures
It was an old accordion from Mitch Reed's store. I thought it looked cool, so I used it for the photo. Can't remember what kind it was, though.....steve
Racines is a "super-band," with power-house members from other bands joining forces to play great music (and, since they are a super-band, to possibly fight evil).
According to David Simpson's site, "members include Steve Riley (of the Mamou Playboys and Lil' Band O' Gold), Kevin Wimmer (Balfa Toujours, Red Stick Ramblers), Chris Stafford (Feufollet), Mitch Reed (BeauSoleil, Charivari, among several bands), and Glenn Fields (Red Stick Ramblers)."
See Website Link #2 to view Simpson's full write-up on the Racines.
I thought I had added the band's official web site to the page I put up, but I only imagined I had. Go to the above link to access the official web site.
On a different topic, the Liberty Theater is supposed to be featured in an NBC Today Show segment this Sunday, May 27, between 7 and 9 a.m. CDT. NBC was there for the March 24 show with Bonsoir, Catin and Horace Trahan, Hubert Maitre and Friends. Former Eunice Mayor Curtis Joubert and Marc and Ann Savoy are also supposed to be part of the segment.
Re: Re: Re: What is Racines? & Liberty Theater Show on NBC
David,
Thanks for posting the information about NBC and the March 24 Liberty Theater show broadcast coming up. Betsy (Terr) Fuller and I were there, our first visit to the theater. Both bands played outstanding shows, and it was great to hear Horace Trahan perform in person. I remember a cameraman roaming the (sloped) dance floor and wondered why he was there. On returning to the North Coast (Rochester), I subscribed to KBON just to be able to download the shows at the Liberty.
