learned some old tunes

did a workshop this weekend, We were looking for the roots of Cajunmusic.

It was great, we learned how to play a mazurka, and a gallope, La Danse de Mardi Gras,Mon bon vieux Marie,Catin prie donc pour ton nègre,Saute Crapaud,Six Ans sur mer,Creole Blues and the New Iberian Polka.

There were four groups, Roma music, French music, world music and Cajun music.

This afternoon each group presented what they had learned.
We started of with a european mazurka going over in Jolie Blonde resolving in Creole Blues.
It was great fun.

Wilfred, did they go into any history on the songs? I've been curious about Mon bon Vieux Mari, seems like I heard somewhere it is still heard in France.

Re: Re: learned some old tunes

We learned it as being a traditional Cajun tune, but it`s closely related to European mazurka.

maybe some of the French braves know the answer.
