You are right John.
I do a course French for three years now, because I have never learn French at school.
I'm not a good student, because I didn't take the time to learn all the grammar and idiom.
And that's because I have to play the accordion.
But from some Cajun songs I understand the lyrics a little bit.
The pronounciation isn't easy at all, but we have a lot of French words in our language like trottoir, pantalon, etui, portefeuille, bureau, cadeau, chauffeur,......
It helps just a little bit.
