Re: For you triple row owners, have you had them dry-tuned?

Like Larry says, any two reed instrument will never sound Cajun, but I'd go farther than that and say that any triple row or piano accordion, regardless of number of reeds or how it is tuned will never sound Cajun.

Having said that, I will add that I have an old Hohner triple row that I bought from Glenn. One of the things about it was that he had it re-tuned to be more dry. It sounds great! I really prefer that kind of dry tuning on a triple row.

Re: For you triple row owners, have you had them dry-tuned?

Jazz tuning is sweet on a 3 row. I don't know how many cents off the reeds are tuned, but it sounds good.

Re: Re: For you triple row owners, have you had them dry-tuned?

There is a great trend towards dry tuning among the British crowd who play 2 rows, 2 1/2 rows, 3 rows etc. I get the impression it is largely a result of Cajun influences, though it could be a reaction against the strong musette the French like.

because of the wet sound,

usually [or at least me] one gets a triple row
*because* of the wet sound, i'm
not trying to get away from it

my one rows are dry, i prefer the 3 rows
not to sound the same even if they could
