CAJUN ACCORDION DISCUSSION GROUP
Actually DRY is louder. The drier the accordion, the more "sypathetic" reed vibration you get and it is actually is a little louder. A dry accordion will also sound louder because the pitch is less defused. Think on it this way. Which sounds louder, three bagpipes playing the same note at once, or three bagpipes playing three different notes at once? DP
My understanding is that most "dry" tunings are not exactly matched. I would still call a 5 cent difference "dry". A true "wet" musette is much greater.
That's pretty much how they are tuned these days. 5 cents off getting to be standard.
there is a psychoacoustic reason why wet might sound louder that is this: when the brain hears the same sound, it tends to tune it out the longer it lasts wet is sort of contiually varying wle.
The psychology of sound! I love it!
Gee, how come it never works with guitars? The guitar player drunes on and on, and I can never tune him out!
