Re: Re: Re: Bravenet blog for Cajun fiddlers (and other styles...)
I say we talk about fiddles here, and give the accordion players a run for their money! That Pointe-au-Pic has been giving me trouble for years, at least the way Jos Bouchard recorded it. What's your secret? How did you learn it, from written music?

Hey, why not digress and talk about fiddles a little... I learned pointe-au-pic by ear from my instructor. It's a song that's always attracted my attention. Whenever I do something, I start with the end in mind... so when I started with my instructor last December/January, I said: I want to learn that song, this and that. He looked at me like a deer in a spot light.. that's not a beginner song! So I asked him to play it, recorded him with my cell phone, and practiced it from there. I don't really read music. BTW, here's a nice version of Pointe-au-pic on YouTube (link #1).
When you folks post lyrics to this list, you should consider posting them to the lyrics group above too. That way, they don't cycle off the list and need to be recreated for future inquirers.

Yes, they are Yahoo groups. Yes, you have to be a member. However, I also nip trolls in the bud, and kill spammers. Ever wish that could happen here.
