I play this on my D box in A. I picked the tune up by listening to You Tube. Its really fun!!!!!!!!!!!! Bruce

Re: Big Bayou Bandits - Convict Two-Step

I think the Redstick Ramblers were one of the first to record this song and they do a helluva job on it. You can also find it on the Savoy Michot band cd. Wilson sings it on this one. It is just the 99 year waltz as a two step.
Another tune with the same melody line is on Bonsoir Catin's new CD. Cinquante Piastre. Great tune as well.

Re: Big Bayou Bandits - Convict Two-Step

Hi Ed,

I haven't been on this board for a while and just saw your message.
It's indeed played in the key of A on an A-accordion (made by John Roger).
It's a two-step version of 99 Year Waltz and as far as I heard Wilson Savoy wrote it for the Red Stick Ramblers (it's on their cd "Bring It On Down")

Best regards,
Yves

Re: Re: Big Bayou Bandits - Convict Two-Step

You sure are correct, Mr. Messany! Wil wrote it, but he was too sick to play when the Ramblers needed to record it, so Stevie stepped in to do it for them.

Are you checking your e-mail? I sent you "Hello Baby"...
