Goin' to Lafayette!

My wife and are crossing our fingers and hoping to sneak down childless to Lafayette the day after Christmas for some Momma/Daddy time. I see Cajun Jam night at the Blue Moon and Lafayette Rhythm Devils at Randol's are happening on Wednesday night. I also saw Steve Riley on Friday. But I didn't see anything happening on Thursday. Could some of y'all that live down and around Lafayette make me some recommendations on what to do on Thursday night(and the rest of the time, for that matter). We're all about dancing, but I'm sure my wife would like to do something girly or cultural during the day.

Thanks, Jamey Hall

Re: Goin' to Lafayette!

I'd check out Lee Benoit at Mulates in Breaux Bridge.

Enjoy the trip.

Re: Goin' to Lafayette!

Check for this place called NuNu's in Arnaudville, about a half hour north of Lafayette near Grand Coteau. Bon Soir Catin plays there, as do T'Salé and other bands.

Re: Goin' to Lafayette!

You can look at the "Patsy Report" for options (1st link).

Re: Goin' to Lafayette!

For the "girly" stuff, drive her the scenic route down through New Iberia and St. Martinville.

In St. Martinville, plant a big one on her cheek under the Evangeline Oak and propose to her AGAIN. Then go to New Iberia and tour Shadows on the Teche Plantation.

Then grab a six pack and drive around Lake Martin. Finish up at Bayou Boudin and Cracklins in Breaux Bridge. Hang out with Rocky while you're there -- that's fun!

Head down a block and stop in at Foti's Fruit Stand to see if they've got crawfish yet. If they do, they're the best I've ever had. Ask for Floyd -- and tell him I said howdy.

Re: Re: Goin' to Lafayette!

Rick, you are DA MAN! Thanks for the cornucopia of ideas. BTW, I went to your website the other day and listened to one of your songs, and *loved* the accordion on it. Excellent dance music. I think it was about going back to Louisiana "where I belong".

Since you live in the Dallas area (I think) you might want to think about going to the National Accordion Convention in Richardson in March. It is a hoot!

Best Regards, Jamey Hall

Re: Re: Re: Goin' to Lafayette!

Aw shucks, man. Jus' doin' what I can to help a brutha out!

As far as my music stuff goes, it's in a bad need for an update as most everything posted is full of cobwebs and dust. Glad ya dig it, but if you like it now, I think you're gonna be happier when our CD gets released. We've got 13 tracks, all originals, with just one more tune to do. 2008 is gonna be a fun year!

I know about the Accordion Fest in Richardson. I went a few years ago -- It was fun!

Re: Goin' to Lafayette!

Lots of GOOD suggestions! If you enjoy music AND dancing, Randols has a decent dance floor, and bands every night of the week ~ except Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Use LINK #3 above to view the band schedule.

Many thanks!

Thanks to everyone for their VERY helpful advice. If we can't have fun now, it's our own **** fault!

Best regards, Jamey

Got a accordon picked out yet?

Hey Jamey,
Have you got a accordion picked out yet? If you bring one back, drop by the house and let me see it. Have a good time on your trip bud!!
MarkS

Re: Got a accordon picked out yet?

Thanks Mark! I have one tentatively picked out, but since I'm going to Lafayette, I might check pawn shops and stuff in the area. Who knows what might turn up!

I'll try my best to stop and show you, if I have something.

Thanks, Jamey

Me, I don't like to eat much, no.

peace,
Griff

Re: Re: Re: Goin' to Lafayette!

Hey buddy, as long as you keep dancing all night, you can eat whatever you want. Or whatever won't eat you first . . .
