Re: Soileau & Lafleur

That is an intersting entry. Say, I'm not sure how to do this, but how do you tell the originator that his name was "Mayeus," not Meus?

Re: Re: Re: Soileau & Lafleur

I'll send him/her/them a question by e-mail. I had added this as a Friend a while back.

Re: Re: Soileau & Lafleur

Jack, do you know that for sure? I've seen it spelled several ways because the old names were written phonetically, even on the birth certificates.

Re: Re: Re: Soileau & Lafleur

Well, the Leo Soileau CD liner notes and Ann Savoy's book call him Mayeus. The book "Memories" by Johnie Allan has a picture of him and a spelling of Mayeuse.
That's all I have had a chance to check, but there are others. I have never seen it spelled Meus.

Re: Re: Soileau & Lafleur

The surname, in french, is "Marius" (I think).

Re: Re: Re: Soileau & Lafleur

I think that is a different name. "Meus" has been written "Mayeus, Maius" and maybe a few ways, there is no "r" sound in it.

MySpace url now

I have a MySpace URL now at #1. It's not too active.
