Braves, one of my cousins in New Brunswick is on the board of the Martin Family Association. In preparation for the Congrès Mondial Acadien of August '09, he is looking for some contacts of "Martin" in Louisiana. Would any of you have contacts to share? We are looking for Cajuns bearing the name Martin (or direct descendants) who have an interest in genealogy and Acadian history.
Please let me know.
Thanks.
Re: Re: Looking for "Martin" family Acadian descents
Hi Dale,
I don't recall seing you on this blog, have you been here for a while?
If that's ok with you, I'd like to put you in touch with my cousin (my cousin's husband actually), Ronald Martin. Ronald is working on a project to clarify the genealogy line of the Martin in Louisiana. All Martin in Louisiana are descendants of three brothers who went to LA after the deportation of 1755. The genealogy experts are not sure if these three brothers were the brothers or the sons of the ancestor of the Martin in Canada. There is a DNA project on the go to clarify that matter. What is your email? If you don't want to display it here, drop me a line at mazmanz@accesswave.caI also intend to contact Clarence (Jr) Martin (the accordion maker). Do you know him personally? Were you thinking about attending the Congrès Mondial? See link #1 and #3. The Martin family is gathering on August 8 2009.

Ha ha, very funny Gus.
Martin happens to be the most popular name in France. Overthere, it is like Smith in the US, Tremblay in Quebec or Leblanc in New Brunswick.
