Jude Moreau

Just got off the phone with Jude. He and his family are safe. They are staying with his Nanny in Opelousas. He went home to get his crawfish, and is heading back. He says it may be six to eight weeks before they get their power back on.

Re: Jude Moreau

Thanx for the follow up report, Ganey...if you get a chance please send regards from me and Jan.

Just had a thought....6 weeks in Opelousas..Man.!.he may convert to playin' Zydeco !!!..yes/no ?

Darryl.

Re: Jude Moreau

6-8 weeks!? Whoa! Are things that bad down there? Or is Jude's place a special case?

Regardless, best to everyone there.

Re: Re: Jude Moreau

Port Arthur/Groves/Port Neches area, in fact all of the Sabine Lake area, had the biggest storm surge on the Texas Coast, probably in the neighborhood of 20 feet. That means fast-moving salt water up to the ceiling, or above the roof, in a lot of houses. Not a pretty picture to come home to. Always better to leave and come home to wreck & ruin than to stay and risk being swept away and drowned. Jude and Danny Dyson were smart to leave. This is the 2nd time for Danny's Family to have to evacuate this year. These guy's probably would never ask for help of the $$$ type, but making a donation to their clean-up and move back might be something the folks on this board might want to consider. Got to love the Gulf Coast (which I do) to keep on living near the water.

Re: Re: Jude Moreau

Jude said that the local power station is submerged under water. It will probably be drained and repaired within a week, or so. the real problem is that it is fed by lines that are powered in Houston. That power source was destroyed.

Re: Jude Moreau

My wife and I went down to Cypremont point over Christmas, and it was magic, so I guess I know what you mean. You sure have to live with the occasional great big "IF", though.

Good idea about the fund.

Re: Jude Moreau

Thanks for the update. Glad to know Jude & family are OK & the crawfish are salvaged. We'll continue to keep all coast residents in our prayers.

Re: Re: Jude Moreau ... What about Ed Poullard?

Anybody heard from Ed? He lives 10 minutes from Jude. An equally skilled builder. He mentored under Jude (originally Marc Savoy).

And yes, the whole area was hit bad, worse than with Rita. I know the Galveston/Bolivar Pennisula area pretty well...looks like my wife and I won't be renting a beach house anytime soon...if ever again. Very Very Sad.

Glad to hear Jude and family is OK. We have some friends up here in Austin expection to stay a similar time away from home. So many people need help. Everyone do what they can.

Re: Jude Moreau, Ed, Cory McCauley & Others.....

Glad to hear that Jude & his family are safe. Did their home suffer flooding or any extreme damage? I hope not.

I'm also wondering about how Cory McCauley and his family made out. They live in Houston but I'm sure they went to their other home in Mamou. Cory's sister lives right on the Gulf in Cameron Parrish. I'm certain they may be dealing with some major damage.

Living on the water near the Gulf of Mexico, I have LOTS of empathy for what all these folks are going through.

Re: Re: Jude Moreau, Ed, Cory McCauley & Others.....

Cory lives strategically outside Houston, so he missed the worst of it, though he apparently had to do some fence repair.

Re: Re: Re: Jude Moreau, Ed, Cory McCauley & Others.....

Bryan,
Have you talked to Cory? I tried calling him yesterday, but have not heard back from him.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Jude Moreau, Ed, Cory McCauley & Others.....

Kind of, we played a little phone tag. But he said everything is fine. They even had power back that same day.

Jude

I heard from Jude--their house is okay, he said.

I hadn't realized how badly the area around there was hit till a I saw a picture and then read about Orange, the town right by Jude's.
