If you read my notes on the You Tube posts, you can learn a lot of what I know about the songs. Saturday Night Special IS the same song...mostly the same lyrics as well. I think many people changed the title of the tunes when recording in order to avoid licensing expenses and the like. Saturday Night Special was recorded by Pat Savant playing accordion with the Sundown Playboys and Darrell Higgenbotham doing the vocal...same as Iry's vocal for the most part, although he does only two verses.

Chicot is not not the same tune...if it sounds the same when you play them, you haven't learned them carefully enough. There are a TON of tunes that are played in the pull with only two chords...if one is not careful, they all start to sound alike...so be careful. Do note, the chicot IS like the turn in the Black Bayou Special however! (at least the way Steve Riley plays the turn in BBSpecial)
