Learn Cajun Accordion DVD 3: status update

To all or any interested

I am approaching the completion of the
"Learn Cajun Accordion Volume 3".
I thought it may be appropriate to post an update.

Volume, two is still in the works.
Of course, I would have rather had Volume 2 released
before Volume 3, but that's the way it went down.

Highlights of the project:

Seven songs on TWO DVD's: almost 3-hours total running time.
(I could have squeezed everything onto one DVD, but
the quality would suffer.)

The DVD's are menu driven to facilitate locating each
introduction, song, and A, B parts, etc.

The songs are:

Cajun Hot Shoe
Fi Fi Poncho
Mamou Two Step
Waltz of the Mulberry Limb
Perrodin Two Step
Pointe au Pins
Between Enuice and Opelousas

Each song is demonstrated with guitar accompaniment
and solo as well.

Each song is illustrated note-by-note, finger by
finger. Phrases are refreshed and demonstrated
through out each song.

A 24-page booklet illustrates each song with complete
tablature and sheet music.

This allows one to follow along the demonstration of
each song to "see where we are" in the songs.

It also helps to clarify a point if something gets
missed while watching the video and serves as a nice
set of notes.

The sheet-music transcriptions are accurate,
playable, full fingered-chorded accordion
arrangements, not just a vocal lead line. Guitar
chords are also included.

Of course, of course, one is strongly encouraged to
abandon the sheet/tabs ASAP and play from memory, but
the intent is to get one up and running quickly.

Highlights of each song are summarized, such as what
position, blues notes, time signatures, short
measures, etc.
For those who have studied Volume 1 and are still
struggling with the material, I would suggest waiting
for Volume 2.

For those who have studied Volume 1 and found it too
rudimental, Volume 3 should provide some new
challenges

And that’s about it for now ..
hopefully another week or so and it’s ready to go!

Keep squeezin'

Re: Learn Cajun Accordion DVD 3: status update

Sounds great for both play by ear players and tabers. You have an interesting set of song choices mind telling us how you came up with that selection. Also when will vol 2 be ready for market and what songs are on that dvd. I assume its going to be presented in the same format as Vol 3 is described. Very nice work Nick

Re: Learn Cajun Accordion DVD 3: status update

Nice work Nick.. am looking forward to both DVDs.. am sure they will be as good or better than the first..

Re: DVD 3: status update - Randy

Hi Randy,

For DVD-2, the plans to date are:

Demonstrate B & C parts for Hey Mom, B & C Parts
for Cowboy Waltz ..

New songs: Choupique and Amede Two Step.

I'm not sure what else I'll be including at this point,
but yes, same format as DVD-3.

To answer your query, the songs for DVD-3 were
ones that had been requested by players. Also,
they are songs that I feel are significant in terms
of style and playing techniques.

I hope the songs represent some interesting
techniques to add to one's repertoire.
