I said this as part of another post, but I wanna be clear: Jude Moreau is a FANTASTIC accordionist! He has a style all his own, and that accordion comes ALIVE in his hands. Seriously, his rhythmic feel and the bounce in his playing is unbelievable.
If you don't have his CD, I *highly* recommend it; it's a top 10'er fer sure. Such a great accordion player, and such a nice guy.
And oh yeah: he builds fantastic accordions! If I ever get the pesos together, he and Bryan (who I think learned a lot from Jude) will build my next accordions.
Yet sometimes, because he lives over in Texas, I think a lot of people don't know his music as well as they do music from the Lafayette area. That's a real shame, because he is an awesome musician!
I'll second that. No one can ever go wrong getting an accordion from Jude. He did teach me a lot, and if I ever build an accordion as good as his I'll consider my venture a success.
On top of that, his generous nature and gift for teaching, along with a fine character, make him a heck of a guy to keep around. Yep, and the boy can play dat ting.
I have Judes' cd and one of his accordions. One of my favortite song on the cd is Evangeline Special. All the songs are good and solid. When I bought the accordion he made for someone here in Houma Louisiana I planned on selling it and making a few bucks. But as it worked out once I played it it became my favorite. So that one is a keeper.
Le Piquant
i have to second these comments. i learned more from jude in an afternoon......hanging around with him in his shop...... about accordions than i ever could have imagined. and we had the chance to play a few tunes together as well. he is one of the nicest guys i have had the pleasure to spend an afternoon with playing Cajun music and all dat.
I agree. La Pecanière CD I think is the one I have. I love the song **** Yeux Bleus with the Ledet sister, and the other song (forgot the title?). Great CD.
