I don't have the song either, but if he's talking about drinking, maybe the word is gaspillé (wasted, slang for drunk or stoned).

Bryan, I believe Neal is probably right; I've listed to the song about 10 times now and there is definitely a hard 'g' sound to that last word, so it may well be 'gaspillé'

That may be Homer Lejeaune singing on the Briggs Brown CD.

Could be, especially since it's a newer song. I don't think that's something you'd hear in an older song, but lots of Americanism getting Cajunized.
