Re: A nice video with Dewey Balfa & a pretty young Steve Riley

Dewey had the most brilliant smile. I really wish I had made my way to Cajun music before he passed. His playing inspires me and touches me very deeply.

Every time I see that video I wonder:

'Did that ole' rice farmer wind up have'n to shot that crawfish-stealin' dawg'?

Worse than an egg-sucker, if you ask me.

Well spoken roger,He was a wonderful man,and musician

Steve, Dewey, Canray and others

The first time I saw Steve Riley, it was in Paris in 90's for a concert " Musiques de Louisiane ". He played accordion with Dewey Balfa on fiddle and her daughters Christine on guitar and Nelda on 'tit fer. Great time !!!.
During this same concert, Canray Fontenot (fiddle) and Elwridge Thibodeaux (accordion) played creole music. One evening, Canray came, half drunk. He stood with difficulty but he played all the same, with a big smile and his false teeth which left!!
Nostalgia........

Marc.

Re: Steve, Dewey, Canray and others

What happened to Canray's false teeth after the gig? You took 'em as souvenir? Are they in the Louvre now?
