Re: cherokee waltz - ambrose version?

Here's how I hear the last verse. This is the version from the yellow lp, More Authentic Acadian French Music, LL-119. I believe 6 of the 12 songs are Ambrose Thibodeaux originals or near-originals on this one: La Louisianne Two Step, Two Step de Platin, Two Step de Musicien, Valse de Tasso, Point Noir Two Step, and Long Point Two Step.

Oh, ye yaille, rapelle toi donc heir au soir
Comment ton vieux neg a r’gardé pour toi, tite fille.
Oh tit fille, moi j’voulais toi tu vien,
Comment moi je peut dire
À nos enfants quoi mom à fait?

Re: cherokee waltz - ambrose version?

Neal, what is the English translation of this?

Re: cherokee waltz - ambrose version?

Verse 2?

Oh, ye yaille, rapelle toi donc heir au soir
Comment ton vieux neg a r’gardé pour toi, tite fille.
Oh tit fille, moi j’voulais toi tu revien,
Comment moi je peut dire
À nos enfants quoi mom à fait?

Oh ye yaille, remember last night
How your old man watched for you, little girl?
Oh little girl, me I wanted you to return.
How can I tell
Our children what mom did?

Re: cherokee waltz - ambrose version?
