Check out my final project for my Cajun French class at LSU. It was an interview with Vorance Barzas. His dad started the original Mamou Playboys Band. This is not all the footage of him. It was cut down for the project. It was a great experience. I shot and edited the footage. Link #1 has English Subtitles. Link #2 has Cajun French Subtitles.
Thank you for showing us your project. I hope that you made an A+ for it - that's really neat! I also enjoyed seeing a video that came up of Vorance Barzas playing at the Liberty Theatre.
I think that Vorance Barzas has one of the best voices in all of Cajun music. Listening to him sing, it's kind of hard to believe that the only recordings on which he sings are the one with Wade Fruge' and the two CDs that Tina Pilione released of performances at Snook's Lounge...seems like someone should be beating his door down to make more recordings.
Bravo pour le projet, et j'ai appris le mot Ras-de-bois...(opposum).
I saw my first one in October when I was sitting in the backyard at the Blue Moon Saloon at night, one came up, just above us, walking on the fence about 4 feet from us... We don't have these in Canada!
