Re: does anyone know where to get a kid size diatonic accordion
hi cb.....
here's the link on amazon, word has it that they can be found at toys r us and other diverse spots around lafayette.....i was also informed by a quite wise man that some of them are better than others and should be tested out of the box to see which has the most accurate tuning, if such a thing seems impt....

Castagnari (from Italy) makes amazingly beautiful kidsize boxes, - named "Lily", like my granddaughter - but they are very expensive, and I don't know if they're available in the US.
There is an accordion builder in Switzerland who offers kits:

Go down to "Bausatz-Örgeli" and click the link.
The one on the left is probably the best choice. This will make a "real" small instrument that a child could really learn on, as opposed to those plastic ones that are pretty frustrating to play due to the crappy bellows.
I think that the kit is a pretty reasonable price, and that the shop will build it for you if you pay extra.
Another poster mentioned the Castagnari Lilly; I agree that it is a good size for a child, but it is also a really fine instrument, so in my opinion it is something that a child could graduate up to but not really a starter instrument.

I have 2 Dino Baffettis that are about the size of a 6 pack, 7 button treble. Same quality as their big ones. Send me an email and I'll send you a picture.
