Re: le tit negre a tante dolcie/Octa Clark

It's too bad about the skips on my record with this song. There's foreign matter on it right at a certain spot that I haven't been able to clean off.

I think my favorite alternative title for this song is Hula Hoop Two Step by Nathan Abshire. J.D. Miller gave it that name. I guess that was right when the hula hoop craze was kicking in.

Re: le tit negre a tante dolcie/Octa Clark

Have you tried alcohol, Neal? I have some really toxic stuff, but I forget what it is; I just know the record guys said it works the best.

BTW, is the Hula Hoop 2-step on your site?

Re: le tit negre a tante dolcie/Octa Clark

I heard I should use only distilled water and a soft cloth.

Yes, Hula Hoop is listed with the songs for the 50s-60s.

Re: le tit negre a tante dolcie/Octa Clark

you are right Bryan, "real" title doesn't mean anything in cajun music, and I just remember I should have ever seen this both names for this aunt, so it was stupid from my part!

Jamey, check this post (link #1):

it talks about the other names of this tune and gives dewey segura's lyrics...it can be intersting

you can also heard this segura's version (link #2).

and the one from Adam Hébert (link #3)

enjoy

Re: le tit negre a tante dolcie/Octa Clark

Thanks for the links, Greg! I'm enjoying them all.

Re: le tit negre a tante dolcie/Octa Clark

I had forgotten about the Hebert song. Thanks, Greg.

Not stupid at all. The name game is a confusing sport in Cajun music.

Re: le tit negre a tante dolcie/Octa Clark

Thanks Neal.
