Thank you so much for your message. I just sent you this reply:
Hi. Thank you very much for your message. Yes, Victor Mature was Italian. If you visit this page on my website it tells all about his history. http://vmature.tripod.com/cinema3.htm I will paste some of the information below also. Thank you for adding Victor to your page. I look forward to seeing it. I will paste the info about where Victor's family came from below. His father's name was originally Maturi. There are photos of the area where his family is from there also.
Info:
One year after his death, Victor Mature will be remembered during the entire summer in the valley that his father left more than a century ago. In 1912, Marcello Gelindo Maturi, a knife-sharpener who was born in Pinzolo - a village situated in the North of Italy and which at that time belonged to the Austro-Hungarian Empire - and some of his brothers emigrated to the United States and settled in Louisville, Kentucky, where his son, Victor, was born in 1913.
Victor's fathers family was originally from the area of Pinzolo and the Rendena Valley (at the end of the 19th Century the country still belonged to the Austro-Hungarian Empire but the language spoken by the population was Italian). The community of Pinzolo and the local tourist board will be having the exhibition at the neighboring Madonna di Campiglio. Victor's native homeland will remember him with an exhibition of materials related to his life and career. Eight of his films will also be shown. It will be a wonderful tribute to a true legend.
Thank you so much again for writing. Have a great day! :)
