family stories about my mother, my uncles, my grandmother & victor mature
Watching "My Darling Clementine" brought to mind family stories that abound. My grandmother & Mrs. Mature were very good friends, living in the Shelby Park neighborhood of Louisville (St. Catherine St. for our family, and I think either Floyd or Jackson for the Mature family) When they were young, my uncle Auggie and Victor got caught swimming after closing at the Shebly Park pool and were chased home by the Louisville police - oh, yes, they were chased home totally naked! Mrs. Mature & my grandmother conspired to have Victor date my mother, and they did go out some. When my grandmother died, Victor sent a lovely arrangement to the funeral home (Bosse). Victor was pretty wild as a young man according to mother and got expelled from the best Catholic schools in Louisville!
