24 Glasgow Road, Cambuslang - Adam and Campbell Families
I lived at 24 Glasgow Road from 1946 until 1956. I lived there with my Mother and Father as well as my two sisters, Nancy and Janette Adam. We lived in my Great Grandparents home. William and Janet Campbell who came from Islay in the late 1890's. They had four children. Margaret, William, Neil and Donald. Margaret my Grandmother married a John O'Raw and stayed at 18 Burn Terrace, William married and lived in the Oatlands, Neil emigrated to America and Donald never married and Glasgow Road was his family home until he died in the mid fifties. He was however, heavily involved and lived at Mearnskirk Hospital where he was responsible for all the requisitions for the Hospital. He was a member of Cambuslang Baptist Church and through them raised considerable amounts of money as well as gifts at Christmas for all the children at the Hospital.
