I just finished reading Blue Gold the other day and it was pretty freaky. A day or two after finishing it I read an article in Readers Digest about how the water supply is drying up. They mentioned the Colorado River specifically.
Pretty crazy stuff.

Re: Blue Gold
Hmmmmm, did the Reader's Digest article mention the possibility that a California billionaire tycoon eco-terrorist is causing this and that the solution is a White Goddess worshiped by a tribe with amazing technical accomplishments whose very Goddess has a secret formula to turn salt water into fresh ??
Now THAT would be pretty freaky stuff !!
It's been a known fact for years that as the droughts that have been plaguing the world in the last couple of decades have been responsible for the evaporation of many fresh water lakes and rivers. So,it's important we don't take fresh water for granted and learn to conserve when we can.

Re: Blue Gold
For some reason it reminded me of the bond film "Quantum of solace"
