I think they'll survive for awhile but 20 years from now? That depends on how long it takes to get out of this economic crisis and if the writing improves. I think there will always be a market for well-written dramas (including soaps) and comedies. Reality shows may be cheaper to produce but surely that market is saturated by now. Personally, I can't stand them and I can't be the only one. I haven't been watching the soaps much except for Young & Restless because it's the only one that is consistently good.
