"The Drummer" (Dennis Wilson biopic) update

A son and daughter of Dennis Wilson have teamed with former Warner/Chappell executive Brad Rosenberger and filmmakers Randy Miller and Jody Savin ("Bottle Shock") for "The Drummer," focusing on the '70s as well as Wilson's post-Beach Boys years.

"The Drummer" not only brings attention to Dennis Wilson's 1977 album "Pacific Ocean Blue," which Sony Legacy reissued two years ago, but also gives Rosenberger a shot at issuing unreleased solo tracks, quite possibly on the label he recently launched, Omnivore Recordings.

Randall Miller is slated to produce and direct the Wilson biopic.

However, despite those attached, keep in mind that other Beach Boy projects have been announced over the years (most notably a Brian Wilson biopic that was to be produced by Castle Rock) that have never materialized. It's all about whether they can raise the funds, and I really don't see this as a major studio film. Not exactly the happy ending Hollywood loves.

Jon, any thoughts? Has anyone consulted you on this?

Hope this comes off

Re: "The Drummer" (Dennis Wilson biopic) update

I don't see any trace of update in that "update". That's the same exact info that was circulating in the press a year ago, and the fact that it says POB Sony Legacy was reissued "two years ago" is telling. As we all know It was reissued three years ago, so i think we're re-reading an old article. How's it goin Patrick? And no, I have not been consulted and I'm unaware of the current status of the project.

Buy it for your Dad! Buy it for your son!
