NOTE: On June 18th, 2008, Sony BMG/ Legacy Recordings released the long awaited reissue of Dennis Wilson's masterwork, the acclaimed 1977 solo album Pacific Ocean Blue. Aside from a brief CD release in 1992, this is the first time this album has been widely available to the public since it's first appearance. Included in this release is a second disc packed with previously unreleased material from sessions leading up to a second solo album, tentatively titled BAMBU.

So, have you heard the new release? What do you think? What surprised you? Do you have questions? Reviews? Opinions? - they are all welcome here.

"The Drummer"

Are there any updates on the progress of "The Drummer?" Is the film currently in production?

Re: "The Drummer"

The movie, unfortunately, has been shelved. As was reported, Aaron Eckhart was contracted to play Dennis; however, he (supposedly) decided he wasn't a good enough drummer - so out of respect turned the part down. Really? He wasn't under contract? You announce a guy is going to play the lead but it's not in writing? Seems fishy to me.

The producers then (again, supposedly) wanted Foo Fighter drummer and Dennis Wilson fan Taylor Hawkins to play Dennis, but Hawkins has evidently been cast as Iggy Pop in a new upcoming Docu-film.

Yet another 'story' is that Cindy Biggers and ex-husband Gregg Jackobson have written a screenplay about Dennis Wilson and may produce it. Uh-huh. Easier said than done.

So, it appears as though "The Drummer" may in fact never see the light of day. By the way, does anyone else remember the Brian Wilson bio-pic announced by Castle Rock years ago? That project suffered the same fate.

Personally, I think think this whole thing was a smokescreen from the get-go; in my opinion, announcing all of these actors 'attached' to the project - Eckhart, Rupert Grint, etc - was a ploy to get financing, which never materialized. It always boils down to the money - or lack thereof.

Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
