First off, thanks to all of you asking about this, and it is nice to know that you're all still interested in my story. Also, posting, and reading others posts, helps to trigger memories & stories that might otherwise have been missed, or placed in a wrong context. I do know I'll be closely checked for any inaccuracies. As you can well imagine, while for the most part the story is a great adventure, telling it all the way through is a very harrowing experience. Illustrating it to the end days is even more painful...
Tommy mentions me posting about it as early as '02, and that it's possible it goes back even further. He's absolutely right; while I was never interested in telling the story in print while he was alive, (Dennis & I were always going to tell the story on film), I started writing this as soon as he was gone... I had no intentions of doing a 'tell-all', and cashing in on his death. Plus, "An American Band" was announced the very day he died, (violating the last promise his brothers & bandmates had made to him), and it was all I could do to maintain the archive, and keep moving forward myself.
Believe it or not, the story has continued, and has grown & developed as Dennis legacy has grown. The upcoming BBC documentary on his life caused me to once again deal with those last days, (and also gave me the opportunity to transfer more never-before-seen out-takes from the archives!), and has given me new hope that interest in his extraordinary life & talent will finally reach beyond a cult audience. He certainly deserves to be remembered in a much more significant way than he is today.
Finally, having my book mentioned in the same context as 'waiting for Bambu' is the highest compliment I could be paid - remember, good things come to those that wait.

Thanks for that post, Ed. We feel you, man. I would add, though, that good things also come to those who ACT! :-)
