Re: PEOPLE outtakes of Dennis/June 1983

I can't find it either.
I always thought that cover photo looked odd.

Take 2!

Try this link: http://images.google.com/images?q=dennis+wilson&q=source%3Alife

Once you're on the site, you can type in all the Beach Boys' names in the LIFE search field and Dennis comes up in some other pics from the same press conference. It's around 6/83, I believe. . . as no photos really seem to exist (online) of him after that point.

Incidentally, I found a guy on MySpace a few years ago who sent me a pic of him with Dennis before a Conway, NH concert around July 1983. He stated that when he asked Dennis for a photo with him Dennis tersely replied, "one quick one." He was gracious but begrudging due to his appearance.

Re: PEOPLE outtakes of Dennis/June 1983

I don't necessarily think the People cover photo was altered...looking at some of the shots in the Google gallery, the one in the upper right in particular looks pretty rough (the angle has a lot to do with it). I bet they just took the worst-looking one and ran that.

Re: PEOPLE outtakes of Dennis/June 1983

Thank you ,thank you, for the link. I'm not blowin' crap here but, I honestly think he looks pretty good for the some stories I've read.
I would be interested to know how much of a change had occurred by December. I've read James Taylor and a few others said he was unrecognizable and bloated. In these photos he's thin ,face might be a little puffy, but not that bad. He lived rough. I just wish he could got straight..........unimaginable loss.

Re: PEOPLE outtakes of Dennis/June 1983

He looked pretty puffy & bloated in photos & footage from April, May, July and August. Not sure why June wasn't so bad. I remember seeing the shot of him onstage that May in People, and remarking to my buddy, "Wow, Dennis looks like hell". The August footage of him included in the "An American Band" documentary is, frankly, apalling.

Re: PEOPLE outtakes of Dennis/June 1983

I forgot about that footage in "American Band",when he's on stage waving. That was bad, made ya wanna cry.

Re: PEOPLE outtakes of Dennis/June 1983

Why does it say those pics were taken in June 1993???

Anyway, Dennis looked pretty well in those pics, and very trim. Shame he lost the beard though, I always think he looked better with the beard.............
