NOTE: On June 18th, 2008, Sony BMG/ Legacy Recordings released the long awaited reissue of Dennis Wilson's masterwork, the acclaimed 1977 solo album Pacific Ocean Blue. Aside from a brief CD release in 1992, this is the first time this album has been widely available to the public since it's first appearance. Included in this release is a second disc packed with previously unreleased material from sessions leading up to a second solo album, tentatively titled BAMBU.

So, have you heard the new release? What do you think? What surprised you? Do you have questions? Reviews? Opinions? - they are all welcome here.

Re: Dennys Drums

Dennis used sparkle finish Gretsch drums in 1962/63
He then switched to various Ludwig and Camco drums during the mid '60's
In the '70's he again used Gretsch and later the clear Zickos drums
In the '80's he used a set of black Yamaha drums

There were certainly others in the mix along the way, but those are the ones I can think of right now.

Re: Dennys Drums

Wow, that's a pretty detailed reply, thank you very much. You don't know the Bass Drum sizes of all those kits by the way, only kiddin!!! ;-)

Honestly, that answered it perfectly!

Re: Dennys Drums

He actually had a paid endorsement deal for Camco in the mid-60s, right? I know I've saved a pic of that ad somewhere.

This was recently sold on US Ebay:

And the newspaper ad:

FYI, Camco eventually turned into Drum Workshop, one of the premier drum dealers around today. Commonly referred to as "DW". Woulda been really cool if Denny were around today, playing a "DW" kit, wouldn't it!
