I am doing a series of articles on Rhodesian Ridgebacks as service dogs for The Ridgeback magazine. I have been told that RRs are one of the favorite breeds for homeland security and other military uses. I hadn't heard this before, but it does make sense that they would be good. I would like to get whatever information someone is willing to tell me about their use. Also, I have been told that the cost is a problem and that you need puppies, not older rescues, but if breeders know of this need, it is possible that they would be willing to donate ridgeless or dogs of non-allowed colors for military use.
