My grandmother Fredia Anne Mai was born in Neceda WI in 1912. Her dad was Juliese Mai they were from Prussia. They only lived around Neceda for a few years and then moved to Chicago. They had a farm somewhere in the Neceda area, I can't seem to find them before they moved to Chicago. But I have a bible, and rember my grandmother telling me about it. I can't find any info on them in Neceda's history. They spoke german, and not much english when they lived there. Has any one heard of my family? I know Mai is an strange german name to have. Please let me know if you have any info. Her family also had more children named JoHanna, Mutzle, Fritz, during the time they lived there. |

This is a nice site. I was looking for the Traver family and while I didn't find anything I enjoyed seeing photos of the area. It is my understanding from 1900, 1920 & 1930 Census that Victor Traver and his family lived in Wonewoc. Censuses appear to show Victor's younger years were in Westfield and Woodland as well. The cemetary tombstone project was very nice too. I was disappointed to not see Victor or his wife Elizabeth in the collection for Pine Eden Cemetary. It's my understanding they were members at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. I have an old photo of a HUGE house they lived at in Wonewoc. Enjoyed visitng the website. Thanks. |

I visited Greenwood Cemetery in Armenia, Juneau, Wisconsin and found my GGGrandfathers Headstone. It was at the end of the row that the Cemetery records said he was buried. However, the records had him buried next second in the row. This website is great, without it I would not been able to locate the cemetry hs was buried in. |

I have been working for about 8 years on my Wife Barbara Schultz Thompson's Family tree. Barbara 's grandmother is Delia Rose Murphy born March 10 1872, Lindina Twp, Juneau Co., Wi, she is the daughter of John F. Murphy and Jane Mellor who both were early settlers of Lindina Twp in 1855. Jane's father Isaac Mellor also settled in Steward's Settlement in 1855. Isaac Mellor had three children , William W. Mellor who married Mary Jane Duel in Mauston in 1855, Jane Mellor who married John F. Murphy 1855 Salem Twp. Kenosha, Wi and migrated to Lindina in 1955, and Mary Ann who married Thomas Finn abt 1851 in Salem twp. Kenosha co. Wi. and along with other Mellor family members migrated to Summit and Lindina Twp, Juneau co. in 1855, Isaac Mellor purchased his first property in 1854. An article in Mauston news paper stated " Iassc Mallor and his son-in-law Thomas Finn came up to Steward's Settlement in 1854 and after looking around some time brought some land on the Bluff. Mallor [Mellor] buying what is now the property of Peter Walters in Summit, and Finn buying near him. They then returned for the Family of Finn and moved to Stewards in the spring of 1855 and lived with him until their house wa ready to live in ." I hope to sumitt the Mellor/Murphy/Finn Genealogy soon. ' |

This site is wonderful, all the record information is great. I am researching the Herzogs and Mihlbauers. Also Catharine Roniker Baurichter who was my great great grandmother. I'm trying to find out where she was born and came from in Baden. She emigrated from the port at Antwerp, Belgium to New York in Nov 1864 with her daughter Kunigunda Roniker and with the Herzogs: Michael, William, Frank, Alex, and Paul. They all lived in Watertown, Wisconsin for a few years. Catharine married Herman Baurichter 27 April 1865 at St. Henry's Catholic Church in Watertown. They had twin daughters Emma and Anna Maria on 9 Nov 1866. Anna Maria died 26 Nov 1869 according to St. Henry's Catholic Church records. After Herman Baurichter's death on 30 Oct 1873, Catharine lived with her daughter Kunigunda and her husband William Herzog in Woodland Township, Sauk Co, WI. She died on 10 Apr 1901 and is buried at St. Lawrence Cemetery, also called the Solchenberger Cemetery and also called the Woodland Catholic Cemetery. It is in Woodland Township. There are stones for 23 people there, most are Mihlbauers. The Mihlbauers came from Manheim, Baden, Germany. Margaret Mihlbauer married William Herzog's brother John Paul, and they lived in Watertown, WI the remainder of their lives. I would like to find out if there is an additional connection between the Mihlbauers and Catharine. Perhaps they are related. Did she also come from Manheim? Catharine's daughter Emma Baurichter married Herman Heiden at St. Lukes Lutheran Church in Watertown 15 Feb 1885. They lived at Tappen, Kidder Co, North Dakota from 1913 until their deaths: Emma 27 Jan 1944 and Herman 8 Feb 1949. They are my great grand parents. |

Thanks for this great site. I have recommended it to numerous people including nineth graders doing local research on family and heritage. Our family are the James and Catherine O'Niell's, Dan Casey,SR.family, Dan and Rose Casey's, Johanna and Michael Gavin's, and T. P. Anglim's from Seven Mile Creek. We are looking for any cemetary records from Winfield and Delona in Sauk County, but also, any other Seven Mile Creek records. Thanks, Bo Gavin |
