My mother was born in Berwick-upon-Tweed in 1916. Her father was in the military so from what I understand Berwick was a military town? My mothers family immigrated to Canada in 1928 or 1929 and never had the opportunity to return, sadly. I remember my talking about her hometown and how the mist from the Black Sea would wet their doorstep. I have looked at pictures of this charming town and would love to walk where my mom walked as a child. Anyone having old pictures please email me. Thanks

I love Berwick it is more like a home to me. We had our own caravan at BHC since I was 4 and went every weekend and school holiday. We dont have the caravan anymore but still hire one a couple of times a year and still have a few days trips each year.
I have loads of pics if you are interested for the website - had a couple published in the local paper too.
My favourite pub, is The Pilot Inn (also a B&B) - used to be our regular (and still is). And I really miss Berwick Labour Club!

I recently visited a friend in Scotland and we took the train to London from Berwick. What I want to know is where the money goes that they charge to park the cars at the station, as it did NOT go to keep the lot shoveled. When we returned, it took us several hours to shovel snow to get our car out and then it took the strength of two young lads pushing us up the ramp to get us on our way. I could not believe the lot and ramp were not better maintained at the train station for the prices they charge to park there.

It was great to see the old prints. My family on my mothers side goes back hundreds of years in Berwick and I love looking at old prints and seeing what they would have seen and imagine their lives at that time. They may even be one of the people on the old pictures! Who knows....It was good to looking at the old pictures and prints anyways.

Always stay at Berwick on our travels South. My ancestor Lancelot Errington took the Holy Isle for the Old Pretender in 1714 .He was jailed here for his "derring do" but with the help of a local carpenter tunneled his way out shuttering for safety.I have the court papers all the way from Australia.

I plan to visit Berwick-upon-Tweed. When I would travel to Edinburgh from London, I'd always catch a glipmse of this beautiful town that looked like time had stood still.

I visited Berwick upon Tweed earlier this year; it is a lovely town, although a lot busier than I remember as a child. Your Website brought back some very fond memories for me. Mick

I am looking at visiting Berwick with a tour group in July 2008 and wondering if ther is a contact person or brochures for handouts about things to see and places to eat. Your web page gave quite a bit of information but I was looking for the Cromwellian Church and the OGLE cpxp9onnection. If someone can point me in the right direction it would be appreciated.

Hey, is your Berwick website cool or what? I am in the process of taking a virtual journey around the coast of Great Britain. I just look at my map of your island and choose a new virtual destination. I've already visited Wigtown, Aberystwyth, Bognor Regis, Deal, Cromer, Skegness, Amble, Arbroath and Ballachulish -- to mention a few places. This morning I decided to spend a few minutes in Berwick-upon-Tweed. I must say your island has fascinating place names. Hope to actually get there in person someday.
