Re: Song of the Month for December 2014 - La Valse Criminelle
Interesting trivia:
In the Clark-Duhon video the guitar player in the red shirt is Steve Riley. This video is part of a local TV show filmed at Mulate's. If I'm not mistaken, Wayne Toups gets in the mix as a side man also in another song.
I had seen a video of J'Etais au Bal from this same shoot, and I happened to ask Jerry Moody if he knew when it was made. He said, "I can find out out. Let me call a friend, and I get back with you."
He replies in a few minutes, "Yeah, that was Steve Riley on guitar. He said he was about 20 at the time, so that makes it about 1990."

Hi Braves,
I learned it when I started to play the accordion, so this is the occasion to rework on this tune!
I don't play this one a lot, so sorry for my rhythm lags time to time... I was busy and I didn't taken time to make an other attempt.
I like the Joe hall's version and I tried to get some licks from him, but it's so far from the master ;)

Preparing for a Christmas party gig and Valse Crriminelle plus a medley of festive tunes is on there, so you've tapped into my current schedule with this one! Thanks John, will give it my best shot

Here's my, maybe too much in a hurry, version. May be my favorite waltz. Played on a Weltmeister C, which is for sale if anyone needs a decent starter box.

Bryan- That playing flows lovely, the quick less concious take is sometimes the best. surprised nobodies snapped up that welty yet seeing you've tweaked it n'all.
