Paurve Hobo, need lyrics

I have the tune (Paurve Hobo) on a Nathan Abshire CD and I would like to learn the lyrics. Can anyone help out?
Thanks. Leslie

Re: Paurve Hobo, need lyrics

Actually if someone has the Octa Clark version of the lyrics I wouldn't mind those too. I have a copy of the CD his grandson put out and the version on there is really nice.

Re: Paurve Hobo, need lyrics

Pauvre hobo
Version by Octa Clark, vocals Steve Riley

Ca me fait de la peine de me voir
Mais comme un pauvre hobo.
Plus personne pour m’aimer,
Plus personne pour me soigner.
Ca me fait la peine de me voir
Mais comme un pauvre hobo.
Plus d’argent, plus de souliers,
Mais comment moi je vas faire ?

Ca me fait pitié de me voir
Mais comme un pauvre hobo.
Plus personne pour m’aimer,
Plus personne pour me soigner.
Ca me fait pitié de me voir
Mais comme un pauvre hobo.
Tu fais une place pour m’aimer,
Mais ça, ça me fait pitié.

Marc.

Re: Paurve Hobo, need lyrics

Thanks a million, I'm going to learn to sing this one tonight.

Re: Paurve Hobo, need lyrics

i saw Marc was the first hand of this one, but as i remeber this song was first casted by Hank Williams in 1952 or 1955 as "the tramp on the street"

not 1955 he died 1951 the year I was born

Re: Paurve Hobo, need lyrics

"The tramp on the street" is a similar song. The cajun version, a beautiful waltz, (un tramp sur la rue) is played by Nathan Abshire with Balfa Bros, and also Cajun Doucet Cajun Band.

Marc.

Re: Pauvre Hobo, need lyrics

Tramp on the Street is an unrelated song, different tune and different story. It was written in the 1940s by Grady and Hazel Cole. I like it in the French versions mentioned above.

The Breaux Brothers recorded Les Tracas du Hobo (Worried Hobo Blues) for Columbia in Atlanta in 1929. Well, it was Amédé Breaux on accordion and vocal, Ophy Breaux on fiddle, and Cleoma Breaux on guitar.

Ça me fait pitié de me voir

Breaux Brothers' Les Tracas Du Hobo Blues (Poor Hobo)

Amédé Breaux did it again for Feature/Fais Do-Do in 1951 under the title Poor Hobo. Of course, it was a standard before then. Even Harry Choates did a Cajun western swing version of it on fiddle.

Nathan Abshire's lyrics are on the cover of his La Louisianne lp, A Cajun Tradition volume 2:

Ça me fait de la peine de me voir
Mais comme un pauvre hobo
J'ai plus d'argent, j'ai plus d'souliers
Comment mais moi j'vas faire?

Ça me fait de la peine de me voir
Mais comme un pauvre hobo
J'ai plus personne pour m'aimer
Mais ça, ça me fait du mal
