CAJUN ACCORDION DISCUSSION GROUP
Hi All, Haven't been around in some time, but I have been playing every day. I recently found a collection of songs on youtube by Nonc Allie Young. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLV2wfoQvCy6HTcFBg41RYv14jx2fDcCZo All on C-accordion and mostly unaccompanied and all very clean. Have a listen. There is a song - Dis Bye Bye A Ton Pap - that caught my ear. Octa Clark also played it as La Valse des Grande Chemins. Marc - some lyric help? I have about 60% of it. Thanks much John in Oregon
More or less the same song as Iry sang in his 1952 recording of "La Valse Du Grande Chemin", based on the melody of Cleoma's "Waltz To My Grave". My take using my ears..... Dis "bye-bye" a ton pop Et ta mom, chere, Pour t'en 'venir Pour m'joindre a la maison. Chere tit fille, moi j'croyais Donc jamais, chere Fais d'rien donc pas que apres (pluerer?) Dis bye-bye a ton pop Et ta mom, chere, Pour t'en 'venir Pour m'joindre a la maison. Chere tit fille, (.........) Pour t'a fais, chere, Fait souffert, eh tit coeur, Qui t'aimait. ------------------ Say "bye-bye" to your dad, And your mom, dear, For you're coming along, To join me at the house. Dear little girl, I can't believe, Never, dear Nothing I'll do to make you cry(?) Say bye-bye to your dad, And your mom, dear, For you're coming along, To join me at the house. Dear little girl, (...........), For what you've done, dear, Made me suffer, your little sweetheart, That loves you. WF
