Thinking of Getting a Tooth Gem? Here's What You Need to Know About Cost, Safety, and Styles

Hey everyone!

I’ve been doing some digging on tooth gem kits lately because I’ve been thinking of getting one, and I figured I’d share everything I’ve learned in case anyone else is curious or considering it too.

What even is a tooth gem?
Basically, it’s a small jewel (like gold, diamond, sapphire, or crystal) that gets attached to your tooth using dental adhesive. It’s applied by a dentist, hygienist, or even a trained beauty technician. The good news is — if it’s done professionally — it’s safe, doesn’t damage your teeth, and can be removed easily whenever you want.

Are they permanent?
Nope. Tooth gems are totally temporary. Some people wear theirs for a few months, others for years. I read about someone who had the same one for over 20 years! But if you ever get bored of it, your dentist can remove it without harming your tooth.

How much does a tooth gem cost?
Prices vary depending on the material. Basic gems (like Swarovski crystals) start around $30, while solid gold or diamond options can go over $100. Just keep in mind that this doesn’t include the cost of having it professionally applied. That’s usually an extra charge at the clinic.

Is it safe to get a cheap one online and DIY it?
Honestly... I wouldn’t. Some cheaper gems contain harmful metals like lead or nickel, which are definitely not great for your mouth. Plus, applying it with random glue can damage your enamel or even cause decay. Definitely better to let a professional do it with proper dental-grade adhesive.

Some cool options I found from a legit brand (selfgem):

Gold Heart Tooth Gem

Diamond Star Tooth Gem

They also make Swarovski crystals that are super sparkly and safe for oral use.

Anyone here already have one? How long did it last? Did you love it or regret it? Let’s chat!
