RPr, You're correct. Playing the bass side when performing an "F" tune will, indeed, drive everyone crazy! Seriously, though, the left side is mostly useless for other keys besides C/G on a "C" box as well .. Em, Dm, F, etc. When in "F", one can find an occasional moment when your right hand needs a "C" accompaniment, but I'd say that's about it. (I've always seen players just stop using the left hand for keys other than "C"/"G" on a "C" box.) And, that's my $0.02 worth --Big [8-]]
you can sometimes use the C bass button [not the chord] while playing in F, at least the C note is in the chord F [F A C} keep in mind that in the key of F, a typical I-V two chord will switch to C [the V chord]. in that case, your Cs will come off smelling like a rose. but the G, either bass or chord, is going to be pretty far off base [so to speak] wle.
