I worked at the 41 Twin from 1974 to 1978. Russ Mortenson\'s brother Ben was the manager at that time. I also worked with Ben\'s son (Robert), his wife and his daughter. The only photos I have are a couple that Robert recently found in his archives. Your film was great! There were a few things that happened during my time there, like the gold and brown paint scheme that replaced \"tomato red.\" I remember the history wall in the projection booth as well.

My godfather owned I believe 200 plus movie theatres. I believe it was called allilance amusement corp. He had the Keno, Mid City and Westgate among others. Maury Canh ran the Westgate, he was a ventriliquist on vaudeville. We are Greek, Keno means theatre in Greek, it is not short for Kenosha. He would have given me the train had I asked for it. If you think I have info you may like feel free to contact me. You have my e mail.

The Victory on Hampton Avenue, and the Starlight in Menomonee Falls were my favorites. Besides myself and passengers, I could easily fit a couple more friends and a cold case of beer in the trunk of my car, party all night long at the drive-in. It was great.

We used to go to the old 100 Twin in Fridley, Minnesota, which is where I saw the original Planet of the Apes back in 1968-69.

Hate to see the old outdoors closing, but movies are pretty lame these days anyway, so ....

I worked at the 41 Twin from 1970 until 1977. My father, Ben Mortenson, was the manager from 1965 until 1980. You are going to be really mad at me because I didn't keep anything for those days. Now, I really wish I had.

I'm very happy to see that you have put all this work into the research. It was such an integral part of my life. I feel as if you are looking into my closet.

I grew up on the farm across the street from the 41 Twin. We lived in Oak Creek, as you know the theater was in Franklin. I remember being a very little kid taking a bath at night, looking out of the bathroom window of our old farmhouse. The sign would run through a series of flashes... first the 4 would light up, then 1, then T, then W and so on. It was mesmerizing. My sister and I would lay on the grass some nights and watch the movies with no sound. The best time we had was going there to see Raiders of the Lost Ark. We also saw The Empire Stikes Back in our pajamas in my parents' old Pontiac. Love your website!

Thanks for making this website -- and for the beauty of it, too! I'll share the link far and wide. Grew up with a dad who loved taking the fam to the drive-in...all through the triple feature years of the "creature feature" being the third movie of the night...popcorn, pillows, and pajamas all over the car at drive-ins from LaCrosse and Madison, to Milwaukee, West Bend...so thank heaven for our great one here in Fish Creek, where those memories still live & there's always a show before the show...as folks pull up with the living room couch on the back of a pickup, lawn chairs in a row to prop up feet...and even really good food in the refreshment stand!

Great website! It's a lot of fun to look around and remember those great times at the drive-in. I'm lucky enough to be just down the road from the Keno and took my family there many times. Keep up the good work!

I was feeling nostaglic and wanted a last look at the old Starlight Drive In Movie located in Menomonee Falls Wis. I am hoping for a snapshot of it and look forward to your book. What a great idea thankyou! I remember Buck Night which I think was on Tuesday and we were in highschool piling the car full of as many friends as we could fit in. I spent many fun evenings at the Starlight and as I now live in California I always looked for it as we drove down Hwy. 41 heading for "home". How sad I was the last time when my brother Patrick said to me "if your looking for the Starlghit it's gone." My youth and memories erased except in my minds eye but I still see it and can feel the excitement as we said we're going to the drive-in tonight. God Bless the Starlight Drive-In.

Charles,

I am an old friend of April Wright and interviewed her for an article on her documentary "Going Attractions." I have returned to school and am doing a marketing project. We have chosen "The Keno." I am looking for some historical information on the theatre. April told me that you might have some of that info and to contact you. I look forward to hearing from you and hope you might be able to help.

Thanks,
Chris
