I just wanted to say I loved the recording of what Wareham sounded like 100 years ago. To the creator of that lovely piece, thank-you. I was on a bus from Corfe Castle back to Bournemouth when a lady who got on the bus at Corfe and said to the driver \"I be going to Wareham now.\" An hour later I learned it was old Dorsetshire dialect, not so much the use of \"be\" but the dialect. I will always regret not starting up a conversation with her so I hear more. So thank you for the recording. |

I was in Wareham last year visiting St Marys church trying to track down my ancestors the Dugdale family as I\'m tracing my family tree. I\'m hoping to revisit next year and will drop in to see the museum. Great website wish I could get the pictures to enlarge would love to see more. |

I have a very old book on Dame Mary Banks which is long overdue from Wareham Union Lending Library - January 1880! which has been in my husband's family for years and wonder if you would like this book. |

Charming and very interesting! An unexpected surprise about T. E Lawrence's connection with your town! I have just moved back to Wareham, Massachusetts, USA, after an absence of 50 years (I was born here, but my family moved away before I became a teenager). As an anthropologist and former historical museum director, I have already begun to become involved with my "hometown's" various historical sites and societies. I believe some years (decades) ago, a contingent from YOUR Wareham came here for a visit, yes? Would love to come visit someday! Ta! |
